Hello! My name is Kevin and I graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a minor in Computer Science at Virginia Commonwealth University's College of Engineering. After college, I landed a full-time engineering role at a BAE Systems where I first dove into the world of hardware chip design and verification. In 2022, I advanced into a new role at Northrop Grumman as an ASIC Design Engineer where I implemented custom digital controllers that interfaced with cutting-edge RF systems such as the AESA radar used in the F-35 fighter program. In 2025, I returned to BAE Systems to take on a role as an FPGA Design Engineer where I developed complex digital signal processing logic targeted for high-performance FPGA boards.

I can tutor on a wide range of digital logic topics which include Boolean algebra, Karnaugh maps, latches, flip-flops, registers, asynchronous/synchronous circuits, state machines, decoders/encoders, SRAM/DRAM, ADC/DAC, and clock-domain crossing synchronizers. I have over 5 years of industry experience in writing, debugging and verifying RTL designs in Verilog, VHDL and SystemVerilog, so feel free to reach out for help on digital design projects and labs.

My strongest skill as a tutor would be my ability to break down difficult problems and concepts into simpler pieces. I'd ensure the student has a strong understanding of the fundamentals and fill in any gaps prior to tackling a complex project or design. I have mentored a number of junior engineers at work which has taught me how to tailor my approach to many learning styles. My favorite part of being a tutor is figuring out that one particular way of explaining a concept that leads to the “ah-ha!” moment of understanding for the student.

Computer Engineering

I completed my B.S in Computer Engineering in 2019 at Virginia Commonwealth University and started my career with a role in front and back-end development for ASICs. I'm now working in a front-end RTL design role while also studying part-time towards a Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. I have a strong, working background in digital logic design with a focus on controllers that interface with analog and RF components. Some of my specializations include designing Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), FIFO buffers, and serial interface controllers (SPI, APB, AHB, etc.). I have extensive experience in the overall chip development cycle which includes: drafting design requirements, writing RTL in VHDL and Verilog, creating verification environments, synthesizing netlists, and running gate-level simulations.

Knowledgeable, Friendly, Saved my grade

I'm a computer engineering student and Kevin helped me in a digital systems design VHDL project which was very specific, complicated, and unique. It was hard to find anyone else who was even familiar with the software and logic, let alone be able to help and communicate extremely well during the session. I truly believe that I got very lucky finding him as my tutor, and I would definitely meet with him again if I'm ever struggling in a subject related to electrical engineering or computer science.

Great Tutor!

Kevin was very knowledgeable in digital logic and was able to help me understand the design of a MUX among other things. He is kind and diligent in his work, ensuring I understand the material before moving on. I also appreciated that he took the time to look at the work I needed help with and had a plan ready before we met. Highly recommend!
