Hi everyone, I’m Kevin! I’m currently a senior student about to finish a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry at the Honors College of Rutgers University in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) in May! Throughout the course of my schooling, I've always found that math was my strongest subject because I was the one that my fellow peers would go to if they didn't understand something and have always passed my courses with flying colors. Being good at math doesn't necessarily mean just being good at adding and subtracting numbers, rather it's also having the problem-solving skills necessary to be able to visualize the path you need to get to your desired answer. I try to bring this knowledge into my tutoring approach and help students hone these skills that are also applicable in areas other than math, while simultaneously practicing arithmetic.
As for my experience, I have been tutoring students since I was in high school, so about 6 years of tutoring experience under my belt. In the beginning of my tutoring experience, I would have meetings with younger students in elementary and middle schools, helping them with material spanning elementary math all the way until Pre-Algebra. When I got to college, I was hired as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the SEBS Education Opportunity Fund (EOF) summer program teaching Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1&2. Four times a week, I would host a 3-hour homework help period where I assisted a class of over 30 rising freshman college students from all over New Jersey. Later on in the Fall and Spring semesters, I would host 2-hour weekly tutoring 1-on-1 sessions with 3 students per semester helping them in subjects such as Precalculus, Trigonometry, and even Calculus. I look forward to working with you and helping you excel in math!
