Hello! I am currently tutoring college, high-school, and middle school students and loving it! Brainstorming, outlining, thesis statement, paragraph building, editing HELP are my greatest strengths. Paper due? Let's get it done!

I enjoy helping students as they embrace their essay assignments with trepidation - I am there to help. For as long as I can remember, the curiosity of a young student brings me joy. I have also tutored online children in an orphanage in Bali. Being able to connect and help children with the English language is spectacular and inspiring. I am in the prime of my life with a Master's Degree in English Literature, as well as a Teach English as a Second Language Certificate holder. My aim is to kindly assist children, teens, and adults who enjoy or struggle with reading and writing: I use humor, kindness and a let's get it done methodology.

I proudly hold an ESL/TESOL certificate, as well as a Master's Degree in English Literature with a focus on Tolstoy's short stories and modern narrative poet, Robinson Jeffers - both brilliant! Additionally, I self-published a novella entitled: "Frankie's Angel - A Child's Tale of Loss and Recovery." This creative non-fiction work is autobiographical with a heavy dose of an irreverent shadow figure. Tapping into an emotional life experience with the help of humor, truth and creative writing-sometimes brings relief, answers and clears the slate for the better.

If you LOVE English or not so much - I'm a patient, kind, fun tutor who can help you excel at your craft. Additionally, if you are not fond of writing - I know many of you - we can get essays completed without tears. I look forward to working with you. sincerely, Lisa

Patient, fun tutor!

My son was struggling with his ELA assignments and reading comprehension. Although he is in honors, he dislikes reading. Lisa was able to engage with him and he has made so much progress. He now gets the high 90s on his tests. We are more than thrilled with the practice, support, and confidence boost Lisa was able to provide in such a short period. We hope to continue with Lisa long-term. :)

So many great things to say about Lisa!! Writing is my least favorite subject and something I'm not good at so any time I have an essay due I freak out and have high anxiety. Lisa made writing so easy! She helped me form great paragraphs and bridges. I feel a lot more comfortable with writing with her helpful tips and helping me find a flow. She eased my anxiety and help me write this paper with no tears. Thank you so much Lisa!

He said "Fun"!

"Fun", is the word my son (6th grade) used to describe his first English lesson with Ms. Lisa. I listed his challenges as forming complete sentences, paragraph structure and grammar. She incorporated his love of reading by allowing him to recite a few paragraphs of a new novel series he started. While doing so she took time to include lessons on challenging vocabulary within the text and syntax without making him feel as though it was a chore. Lisa used her laid back charm to get a feel for his learning style and it swept him off his feet. There was laughing and skillfully prompted exchanges of opinions regarding what he read. I'll be sure to post an update in a few months. Yes, she'll be around for a while. She's that great!
