I’m a certified high school English teacher with more than twenty years of experience working with middle and high school students in public school settings. I earned my Master’s in English Education from Teachers College at Columbia University and my undergraduate degree in English from Franklin and Marshall College, and I currently teach at Watchung Hills Regional High School in New Jersey. Over the course of my career, I’ve taught everything from foundational skills courses to AP English, working with a wide range of learners and helping students grow into confident, capable writers.
Most of my work has been with grades 9–12, though I started in middle school and still enjoy helping younger students build strong habits early. I’ve taught in both traditional and specialized settings, including programs that support students with learning differences, and I’m comfortable meeting students wherever they are. In the classroom, I focus on lively discussion, clear expectations, and practical strategies students can actually use. I want students to understand not just what a strong essay looks like, but how to build one step by step.
In addition to teaching full time, I tutor students nationwide in AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP U.S. History, SAT and ACT verbal prep, and college essay writing. My approach is structured but relaxed: we break big assignments into manageable pieces, practice the skills that matter most, and build confidence through repetition and feedback. I especially enjoy working with students who know the material but struggle to organize their thinking under time pressure. My goal is simple—help students write clearly, think sharply, and walk into exams (and college applications) feeling prepared and self-assured.
