ADHD

ADHD

A large portion of my time as an instructional paraprofessional has been spent in assisting students with ADHD/ADD and Autism. With respect to ADHD/ADD, I have been trained in implementing effective instructional methods and redirection techniques designed to assist students with ADHD/ADD to successfully retain information and to increase confidence in their academic capabilities. Whenever I work with students, particularly those with ADHD/ADD, I always have a structured plan in place with frequent breaks/time to decompress, the "Pause Method" in ensuring the student understands the material, in addition to incentivization of following expected tutoring routines. This has proven extremely successful due to the rapport I develop with students in addition to the clear expectations that are customized for each student.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have had many years of experience in assisting students with higher to lower functioning ASD. I've received extensive core training and personal development in understanding best tutoring and behavioral modification practices for students with ASD, and am fundamentally aware of the challenges that ASD students face. As someone who is on the spectrum, I have an intimate understanding of some of the struggles that students with ASD may experience. I have the ability to recognize deficits and then develop a comprehensive plan on how to best serve ASD students by understanding more of their unique strengths and weaknesses. With my experience in working with ASD students as an instructional paraprofessional, I have an increased understanding of best practices in instructing and providing behavioral support if needed to students with ASD.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a teaching license from New Jersey in Elementary Education, K-6 all subjects, and have experience in working with students at the elementary level.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Through my experience as a special education instructional paraprofessional, I have provided small-group instruction to students with disabilities in a wide variety of subjects, one of them primarily being math. I understand the struggles many students undergo with math, and with my experience and solid subject matter, I am able to truly support students in academic and social/emotional piece when it comes to math.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

In addition to tutoring services, I run an educational advocacy and consulting company. One aspect of running this business is having to appear before school districts in a variety of situations. I have presented and advocated on policy measures before many NJ school boards, and have been invited to speak at multiple venues including SEPAG. I regularly run workshops and seminars on how to best serve students with disabilities, and I have a talent for ensuring all public speaking events are driven with authenticity and understanding. My understanding of tone, diction, voice modulation, authenticity, presentation, and effective ways of speaking allow me to help others who would like to develop their public speaking abilities.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I currently work as a special education instructional paraprofessional at a private school and have worked as one in the past. I have received extensive training from headteachers at public schools and have done extensive research on best instructional methods that would best serve students, in addition to training on social/emotional factors such as shaping behavior and mental health's manifestation in and out of the classroom. From working with students directly with special needs in schools and by freelance tutoring, I have had the fortunate opportunity to work with many students with disabilities, including Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorders/Conduct Disorders, Executive Functioning Delays, ADHD/ADD, and many more.

Aidan helped me get over a hump I had been struggling with in my Art History class. We worked through what the paper needed, and what routes I should take to get to where I need to be. I thought it was awesome how encouraging he was. It made me feel much more confident in my abilities. I would 110% recommend Aidan for all of your tutoring needs.
