Hey, I'm Raul! I am an undergraduate studying for my Bachelor's degree in engineering. I specialize in STEM classes; mathematics and science are my strongest subjects. Hey, I'm Raul! I am an undergraduate studying for my Bachelor's degree in engineering. I specialize in STEM classes; mathematics and science are my strongest subjects. In high school, I was placed into math honor society, received a 1300 on my SAT, and graduated with a 3.8 GPA. From my high school and college experience, I noticed that nearly all of my professors would pick favorites for grasping material so quickly. Unfortunately, they also loved to shift blame onto my peers that struggled to keep up with the course material. Everyone learns at their own pace - it's not the students fault for not clicking with a professor's faulty teaching method.
I used to tutor my close group of friends in both high school and college. Any time they needed help with a subject, they would come to me with questions on their homework or preparation for a quiz/exam. I didn't ask my friends for any payment, I did it because I genuinely liked helping my friends improve their test grades.
I try my best to break down concepts in a way that my students will understand. If the student is able to send me their course material (i.e, study guides, notes, homework) ahead of time, that'd be a great help. I just need a heads-up on what we're going to be covering; it would help us get a lot more out of our sessions. I like to give homework assignments and tips on studying/procrastination so the student can really nail down the coursework. Unfortunately, that's entirely up to them. I can't force a student to learn if they don't want to put in the effort.
I want to actually help students succeed in their course - I'm open to any suggestions parents/students may have. I'm easy to reach - I'll respond quickly to any messages I receive on my Wyzant or email. Let me know if you have any questions, or would like to schedule a lesson!
