I help students write standout college essays and navigate the admissions process. I've guided 200+ students through the college admissions process as an IECA member, with consistent acceptances to top-20 schools.

I'm a licensed teacher with over a decade of experience in education and have spent the last five years focused specifically on college admissions consulting. My own background is in molecular biology and genetics. I’ve conducted research at Princeton University, which gives me a firsthand understanding of the rigor and fit elite institutions look for. This experience is particularly useful for students pursuing STEM, pre-med, or research-heavy paths.

How *essay editing* works: All essay editing is done asynchronously. You send your draft, and I return detailed written feedback and edits. This is billed on a per-hour, or prorated, basis for actual time spent. Personal statements starting from scratch typically go through a brainstorming phase followed by 3-4 rounds of revision. After I provide feedback, I recommend a follow-up call to talk through revisions or alternative directions.

Support options:
- Personal statement and supplemental essay brainstorming, structure, and line editing
- Activities & honors list development and editing
- College list building and application strategy
- Full application support, including for students pursuing competitive STEM/pre-med pathways
- Summer program recommendations and application review
- Interview preparation

I also share detailed templates, guides, and suggested timelines. This provides students with a framework to follow between sessions.

Great tutor, helped me dramatically improve my essays

Emily was amazing! I came in thinking my personal statement just needed a quick edit, but she helped me see that it could be a lot more personal and emotional. We spent time brainstorming and she helped me choose stories I never would have thought to include. She also gave me worksheets to help my writing after I left. Even though I had to improve on a lot of things, I was actually excited to keep writing because I knew exactly what to do. She was even helpful with my supplemental essays and told me about certain essay requirements that aren't actually written anywhere. I'm so happy with my final drafts. They're really like night and day compared to my first drafts. I highly recommend working with Emily!

Supportive, helpful, and extremely thorough EFS coach!

Emily has been a huge help to my son as he transitioned from middle school to high school. She's helped him go from missing multiple assignments in every class to just one or two total, and his school-related anxiety has been way lower since they started working together. Emily is easy to talk to and made it easy for my son to open up. He's never once felt judged for his forgetfulness or anxiety and I think this is a big part of what's led to so much success. She's helped him become more reflective and a better advocate for himself as well. We are beyond thankful to have found Emily and look forward to future sessions.

Knowledgeable, patient, and realistic

I reached out to Emily for help building my son's college list. My son wasn't making progress in developing his own list and we didn't really know what kind of schools he was competitive for. Emily took the time to evaluate my son's academics and extracurriculars and clearly described what we could expect in terms of admissions. She helped my son find a few "perfect" schools and then it really took off from there. Emily made us aware of schools we had never even heard of which also seemed to be a perfect fit. She even suggested which majors to apply to in order to be more competitive. We now have a complete list of schools and an understanding of my son's chances at each one. We'll definitely be returning for application help!
