Hello!

I am a certified k-12 special education teacher with more than 16 years of experience private tutoring. I am knowledgable with all NJ core content curriculum standards and will tutor in any subject area your child needs. I have training and experience with Wilson and Orton Gillingham. If your child has special needs, I am trained in making specific educational modifications to help your child learn. Additionally, I am trained in discrete trials and ABA if your child uses this method in their school setting or with therapists.
I have a very simple approach to tutoring. Learning through fun. When I enter your home I want your child too look forward to seeing me and enjoy what they are working on while I am there. I base my materials off of specifics that will motivate your child. I feel if they don't look at tutoring as work they will become more successful. I base my planning off of school assessments/report cards. If they are not available I am able to give my own assessment. I believe strongly that every student has a learning style ( visual, auditory, kinesthetic) In the first session I plan on discovering the type of learner I am working with and base materials off of this. I will utilize technology, often bringing my IPad loaded with various learning apps that parents may review before my use. At the end of the tutoring session, you will receive an outline, highlighting exactly what I have worked on so you are aware and have the opportunity to provide me with any suggestions.
