Hi! I’m Mollie! I graduated with a BA in History and a minor in Asian Studies! Hi! I’m Mollie! I graduated with a BA in History and a minor in Asian Studies! In college, I became very close with my professors, and they were the ones who guided me towards following my passion and studying my own interests! I used each of my classes as a guide so I could study more niche subjects. Writing papers for my professors and peers to learn from, I realized further I enjoyed educating others more, and since graduating am working towards alternate route to teaching program.
I spent two years of my college time tutoring online, while being a full time student, and working part time for my department. I primarily tutored high school students for over 60 hours, one-on-one, virtually throughout the school year mainly for two students. I have also tutored a family member who is homeschooled and conducted his history lessons to which, some of his friends joined in based on his recommendation. Teaching the American Revolution to a small group of 6th graders was an experience I was glad to have! Most of my students I have had the pleasure of tutoring have either been on the spectrum or have had an attention disorder.
Working with each student is my primary goal to how they learn best, as well as what needs to be achieved. I had some who were more reward driven by discussion on different topics, others who needed to discuss social topics and apply it to their work, and others who prefer videos, but don’t retain as much, so the goal becomes more focused on understanding bigger picture than the little details.
Most of history has been put into some simplified questions of who, where, when, what, why, and how. I believe most events can be simplified to the latter half of: what, why, and how. Which leaves the details to be more so answered by the former: who, where, when.
