I'm Megan! I graduated summa cum laude from Boston College in 2023 with a degree in Business Management. After deciding sitting at a desk all day staring at a computer wasn't for me, I found my passion in teaching. I have always enjoyed helping others and my ultimate goal has been to leave a positive impact on the lives of others. This is something I bring into my classroom, looking to inspire children to be the best versions of themselves and not be scared of failure. Through cultivating a classroom where an individual's learning is the most important aspect not how a child compares to his/her peers, I have found that students will put more effort into their academics even the ones who struggle and usually would find it easier to do nothing rather than look to improve on their own path.

Last year the opportunity to teach at my High School arose when I was looking for a job. Taking the job was the greatest decision I made. I taught freshman-seniors in Algebra II, Statistics, and Precalc/Trigonometry. During this time I also tutored students in group and one-on-one sessions in Algebra I/II.

This year I started at a public school as a 5th grade ELA teacher. Teaching a group of students who were in 1st and 2nd grade during Covid, I have found that there are many gaps needed to be filled while also preparing these kids for middle school. The biggest focus this year has been on grammar, basic writing conventions, spelling patterns, and reading comprehension. Knowing that every student learns differently, I try to include a variety of teaching methods into each lesson to best meet the needs of all my students. Additionally, I pull small groups of 5-7 struggling students to provide more direct support for these individuals while they're working on independent assignments.

Elementary (K-6th)

I teach 5th grade ELA at a public school in Maryland. I'm conditionally certified and in the process of earning a master's degree in elementary education and curriculum and instruction. Through instruction I focus on writing conventions, reading comprehension, and grammar. I pull small groups during enrichment blocks for intervention in both gifted education and reading support. Further, during homeroom, I assist students in all subject areas to complete makeup work and assignments they need extra assistance with completing.
