I am a recently retired 8th grade Math teacher who absolutely loves teaching Algebra! As a parent of a child with learning disabilities, I have developed strategies that are effective for students who have learning disabilities or math anxiety. I also have 25 years of having worked in the corporate environment which allows me to bring the real world perspective to learning.

Andrea was a great tutor. She was extremely patient with me and she made sure that I understood the concept exactly. She even thought of creative phrases to help me remember certain things. My experience with her was very pleasant.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught Algebra 1 for 13 years. I have coached several competitive Math teams. I have taught MCAS Math classes. I am responsible, creative, patient, clear, easy to get along with and flexible.
As an 8th grade Math teacher, I am familiar with the Math concepts evaluated in entrance tests like these. I have my Masters degree and my Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (all of the coursework for my Doctorate) in Mathematics Education. I have also coached Math Teams over the past 7 years.
Math learned in the elementary grades is the foundation upon which all other Math courses are based. My concentration in Grad school on Mathematics Education prepared me to understand how Math is learned. I have 13 years of teaching Math in the Middle School. My teaching style is clear and focused. I am patient and creative.

As a Math teacher for 13 years, I have developed organizational and study skills methods that have been very effective. Studying for Math incorporates many of the study skills that are transferable to other subjects but there are unique skills for learning and preparing for Math. I have also taught MCAS classes which incorporated test taking strategies.
