I am an engineering graduate with a background working for major banks first as a software engineer and then as a Business analyst. I did my CFA some years back and am working in a top financial firm in Boston. I have two college-going kids who I self taught at home and they are now top of their class. It takes practice and diligence and some level of patience. I find innovative ways to connect a student's daily experience to the subject. this helps memory retention and also makes things interesting. I absolutely love teaching and if I could this would be my primary career. Making sure the kids succeed gives me immense happiness and satisfaction.
I graduated from high school and engineering top of my class with A+/ distinction in math and science. Math for me is easy to teach because its linear, there is no ambiguity in the outcome and everyone can do it with some practice.
I did my CFA certification some years back and feel like I am able to relate to the pain points. I am not the best at arcane theory but I am excellent st knowing what he exam looks like and helping the student prepare.
My background as a finance major with an MBA along with 15 plus years of working in banking and financial firms gives me a unique perspective.
You will find a lot of tutors with sterling credentials. However my experience has been that a good tutor not only knows the material but also knows ways in which to impart that knowledge. A tutor who has both is rare and excellent to work with.
