Hi I’m Heidi! I am a graduate from Portsmouth Christian Academy and I am currently enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice majoring in political science. I have been tutoring for just over a year and have helped many people excel in all things government and law related! I have taken classes such as Liberty & Justice, Civics, Law & Order, AP Gov, and I am currently enrolled in POL 235 which focuses on the Judicial Branch. Social sciences have always come easy to me and I have found fun and effective ways to teach some of the more difficult concepts!
I am not the biggest fan of lecturing and talking at people in effort of teaching, I prefer to do things like games, and chapter scavenger hunts. I found that my entertaining study habits are the cause for my 99.5 average in my Civics and Liberty & Justice class (as well as the rest of the classes mentioned prior), and a 5 on my AP Gov exam.
My methods worked for me as a high school student and I have helped some of the local 9th-12th graders with these classes. I would typically meet in the school library, public library, or the teachers office hours as a TA. I am aiming to tutor anyone from 8th-12th grade online! I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to use my strengths and hopefully benefit those who need it!
