About Emily

Bio

Hi, I’m Emily! I graduated from the University of Illinois in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with High Distinction. I made the Dean’s List twice with a perfect 4.0 GPA, and I also did undergraduate research on biochemical materials for cancer treatment and biosensors, which showed me how chemistry works beyond the textbook and in medicine.

I tutor chemistry, specializing in AP and college-level courses. I also worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory college chemistry class, where I taught 31 students through office hours, grading, and individual review sessions. Grading showed me exactly where students lose points, and one-on-one sessions let me fix those gaps directly.
I love teaching chemistry because it can seem like a really scary subject, but once it clicks, it unlocks a whole new world. I know how intimidating it can feel, so I take the time to break each problem down into small, manageable steps. That way, students build a strong foundation and can confidently solve any problem, not just the one in front of them. I want every student to leave each session feeling more confident, not just with a better grade.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I am a chemistry teacher and tutor, and I use calculus regularly in my work, including derivatives for rates of change in kinetics, integrals for area and accumulation, and exponential and logarithmic models. Because I apply these tools in real scientific contexts, I can explain not only how a method works but why it matters. I break problems into clear, manageable steps, from limits and derivatives to integration techniques like substitution, and I check results with quick sanity tests so concepts stick. I’m patient and adapt to each student’s pace, whether you need to catch up, prepare for an exam, or build confidence for STEM courses ahead.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I graduated from the University of Illinois in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with High Distinction and made the Dean’s List twice with a perfect 4.0 GPA. I specialize in tutoring AP and college-level chemistry. As a teaching assistant for an introductory college chemistry course, I taught 31 students through office hours, grading, and individual review sessions. I also did undergraduate research on biochemical materials for cancer treatment and biosensors, and I love breaking problems down into small, manageable steps so students build a strong foundation.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I’ve completed both Organic Chemistry I and II, so I know the full sequence from the ground up, including nomenclature, stereochemistry, substitution and elimination reactions, and the major functional group transformations in Orgo 2 like carbonyl chemistry, aromatic substitution, and synthesis. I understand how challenging these courses can be, and I know which topics tend to trip students up, such as SN1/SN2/E1/E2 selection, resonance, and multi-step mechanisms. My teaching approach focuses on understanding the ‘why’ behind reactions rather than memorization, using arrow-pushing practice and pattern recognition to build confidence. I’m happy to help with homework, exam prep, and clarifying concepts from lecture.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I am a chemistry teacher and tutor, and I use precalculus and calculus regularly in my teaching, from logarithms in pH and kinetics to exponential growth and decay, functions and graphing, and algebraic problem solving. Because I teach students to apply these skills in real scientific contexts, I can explain not only how a method works but why it matters. I break topics into clear, manageable steps and use real examples so concepts stick. I’m patient and adapt to each student’s pace, whether you need to catch up, prepare for an exam, or build confidence for STEM courses ahead.
