Welcome to my tutoring profile. During the past 25 years, I've tutored a combination of college, high school, and middle school students, primarily in math classes. The specific courses and I've tutored, as well as scored very high in as a student, include the following: Algebra, Finite Math, Business Calculus, Accounting, Economics, and Statistics. Over 200 students have benefited from my assistance with their studies.

***** For those who are business or other majors, I am also available to help you with various aspects of your Capstone. I have helped students who were business majors, economics majors, even nursing students working on their BSN, with their Capstone. When requesting help for your Capstone, please select Algebra or Economics, or one of the other courses for which I tutor, but indicate Capstone in your communication with me. Also, please upload any relevant information regarding your Capstone. *****

***** When wishing to schedule lessons, please make certain that you upload for me any study materials, sample tests, or other related information, that you're expected to use for your studies. Please upload these either in advance of requesting lessons, or immediately after having them scheduled. Just prior to the lessons doesn't give you the benefit of my being able to research any issues with the material in advance of the lessons. Your time is valuable. I want to make certain that our lesson time really does count - and is used most efficiently. Further, if there were certain problems that you were having difficulty with, please identify these in advance as well. I prefer to research these in advance of our lessons, not during our lessons. Please take advantage of this offer to research these problems in advance, at no extra cost to you, in order to streamline and make efficient use of your tutoring time.*****

For accounting classes: I have tutored both undergraduate and graduate students, in the following courses: Financial Accounting (Principles 1), Managerial/Cost Accounting (Principles 2), Cost Accounting, Intermediate Account 1, 2, and 3; as well as Auditing.

For Economics courses, I have tutored in undergraduate and graduate courses in both Macro and Micro Economics. HOWEVER, this semester (Winter and Spring, 2018), I have limited preparation time available. So, I am only able to tutor for the Principles-level Economics courses (not Intermediate or above). My apologies for any inconvenience this might cause for potential students.

Additionally, I've had various certification years as a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. During that time, I taught several classes for students desiring to re-shift their work force focus. Most, but not all, of those students whom I have tutored, have been students studying business, criminal justice, or nursing.

My approach is different, in that I don't repeat the same mantra that people have already heard from their instructor. I look for unique and high-impact ways to communicate, so that I haven't just said something, but so that people walk away with a keen understanding.

I have worked as a tutor, a tax accountant, support technician, technical writer, technical trainer, network administrator, mathematician, and inventor in the area of computer security.

Tutoring has been for students in prestigious colleges and universities, junior (community) colleges, both undergraduate and graduate, along with junior high (middle school) and high school students.

Further, while tutoring math in college (almost 25 years ago), I was exposed to what has now become known as 'Common Core'. The basic premise behind this was to more carefully delineate student capabilities. Too many students were allegedly receiving a grade of 'A', with very different levels of understanding. The goal identified nearly 30 years ago, was that students who could do what was identified as 'higher order thinking' were the ones thought to deserve the grade of 'A', while those who could simply do the arithmetic operations would be relegated to a grade of 'B' or lower. Regardless of the school system or state, the ability to do the higher order thinking has helped prepare my tutoring students to advance to the top of their math classes, both in understanding and performance.

Adjusted to my learning style

I am studying managerial accounting. I am a verbal and auditory learner and need multiple analogies and examples in order to retain concepts. He is very helpful allowing me to talk through my problems and solidify the concepts in my mind for recall.

Michele, 13 lessons with Mark

Extensive knowledge in accounting field

I meet with Mark on a weekly basis for Intermediate Accounting. Mark has a gift for taking complicated accounting topics and simplifying by giving real world examples so students can truly grasp the course material. He genuinely cares about his students progress and will work hard to help them excel and get good grades on their exams.

Crystal, 16 lessons with Mark

Very knowledgeable Microeconomics tutor

Mark helped me to grasp 2-3 weeks of lectures from class in an hour and fifteen minutes! He has the natural ability to think as an economist and streamline topics that seem complicated at first glance.

Alexa, 3 lessons with Mark

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Mark went over everything in great detail making sure that I understand the concepts and the reasons behind them. He made sure to ask if I understood each concept in Intermediate Accounting and if I was not completely sure he would review the topic with me until I had a firm grasp on the subject matter.

Amanda, 2 lessons with Mark

Very helpful!

Julie, 3 lessons with Mark

Knowledgeable in all things accounting

There were many things I was looking for in a tutor. Mark did an excellent job helping me understand some of the concepts that I have been having difficulty understanding and I look forward to my future lessons with him!

Patient With His Student

He explained everything by breaking down the content and has a sample for each topic. He goes above and beyond expectation. He doesn't only explain in simple words, but gives you confidence. For WGU students, I highly recommend Mr. Mark for your tutoring needs, especially for Accounting classes.

Eli, 4 lessons with Mark

So helpful!

I didn't understand capital stock for anything, and he explained it so well! The hour flew by, so I made another appointment so he could pretty much teach me the rest of the material. Thanks Mark!
