Bio

I have been tutoring high school math and science since 2008. Many satisfied parents, educators, and school district administrators rely on me to help their students achieve academic success. Let my experience and natural ability as a communicator work for your student.

I have been tutoring high school math and science since 2008. Many satisfied parents, educators, and school district administrators rely on me to help their students achieve academic success. Let my experience and natural ability as a communicator work for your student.

Before teaching, I was a chemical engineer in industry, working for multiple instrument manufacturers. My real-world experience gives me perspective that many educators lack. While I was good at laboratory work, I find teaching to be more rewarding. I enrich my students' lives and they enrich mine. I have been able to influence many young people and helped them achieve great things.

I have a track record of success with all kinds of students, from straight A high achievers to students who struggle with the complex, often esoteric concepts of math and science. I have worked for several tutoring agencies over the years. I would be happy to supply a long list of references. I look forward to speaking with you about the particular needs of your student.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra 1 for several years. It is one of the most fundamental math courses for building the skills of symbolic logic, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Before teaching I worked as an analytical chemist, where these sorts of skills were used on a daily basis.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra 2 for many years. It is the second part of the most fundamental math courses for building the skills of symbolic logic, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Before teaching I worked as a chemical engineer, where these sorts of skills were used on a daily basis.
Astronomy

Astronomy

I studied astronomy as an undergraduate and have continued working as an amateur astronomer since. Astronomy is my favorite course to teach as well as my favorite subject to ponder. My science background in general gives me a good framework from which to teach the science of the night sky.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

Biochemistry is a high level course that draws from both biology and from chemistry. My degree is a double major of biology and chemistry. I worked as an analytical chemist for many years before teaching. The chemistry I practiced was mostly food chemistry, which is a sub-discipline of biochemistry.
Biology

Biology

Biology is the scientific inquiry into life processes. My degree is in biology. I have taught many students over the years and can provide references from many satisfied parents. This is one of my favorite subjects to teach.
Botany

Botany

Botany is a sub-discipline of biology; specifically, the biology of plants. I have a bachelor's of science in biology and plant biology has always been a favorite topic of mine. I have studied biochemistry, plant physiology, organic chemistry, and many other related disciplines, which makes me a well-rounded tutor for this subject.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I worked as an analytical chemist for several years before I started to teach. My professional experience makes me uniquely suited to teaching the subject. I have taught this subject to many students and can provide references from lots of satisfied parents.
Ecology

Ecology

Ecology is a sub-discipline of biology. My degree is in biology and ecology is one of my favorite topics. I have experience performing ecology field work and this is something not every teacher can bring to the table.
Genetics

Genetics

Genetics is the quintessential crossover between biology and chemistry. I double-majored in biology and chemistry, and worked as a professional laboratory chemist for many years. I completed substantial laboratory work in the field of Genetics, and it is one of my favorite subjects.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry is one of the most challenging courses taken by high school students. I have known several math teachers who loathe it. I have had several geometry students and I have been able to cut through the often esoteric theoretical stuff and present the material in a way the students can grasp onto. I have seen lots of students struggle with this course. Just remember, it doesn't have to be this way!
Physical Science

Physical Science

Physical science is an introduction to the physical sciences, which is mostly chemistry and physics. I have worked as an analytical chemist so I am uniquely suited to teaching this material. I am good at providing students with real-life examples of the different topics addressed, as the satisfied parents of my past students can attest!
Physics

Physics

I have experience as a professional scientist and this allows me to bring subject-specific experience to bear, to help my students learn the often challenging concepts of general physics. It is not an easy subject. I have taught physics many times and I have many happy parents and students to show for it.
Physiology

Physiology

in Physiology, essential principles of human anatomy and physiology are presented, including basic chemistry, cell and tissue studies, and an overview of all the body systems.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus, as its name indicates, is designed to prepare the student for Calculus, either in high school or college. I have used calculus a a science professional, and I have lots of experience teaching math to high school students. Let my experience work for you.

Great Tutor.

Ron explains the material in ways that make it easy to understand. He is patient and gives me the opportunity to show I understand before our sessions end.

Great tutor who knows his subject and conveys it in an engaging way.

My son is in an advanced biology class and doesn't always have the opportunity to ask the "why" of how something functions. Ron is able to do this and then some with great analogy's and patience and humor. He is a great fit as a tutor and we are very pleased. It is very clear that Ron knows the subject and his engaging way of explaining complex information is really helping our son.
