As an empathetic and hard-working educator, I have served in two districts during my five-year teaching career. In reading my letter of intent, I hope you will find I have communicated my love of teaching, my care for students, and my interest in becoming part of the tutoring community.
While I started out in college as an artist and English major, once I found the world of education I knew it was something I would be passionate about. Before attending Mount Holyoke college for an undergraduate degree, I worked at the public library and a daycare center near my childhood home in Croton-on-Hudson, NY to get experience. It wasn’t until pursuing a Master’s degree in elementary education at Hunter College that I knew what kind of impact I could have on the next generation.
During my student teaching experiences, I had the unique opportunity to co-teach multiple classrooms in New York City, including a conventional public school and a talented-and-gifted (TAG) school. While the experiences starkly contrasted each other, both schools gave me a more nuanced view of the processes of planning lessons, engaging students, and communicating with the broader school community. Most of all, I learned how an excited, curious, or thoughtful class of students can create a bright spot in the world. I feel that the district’s goal of inspiring “critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, effective communicators, and socially responsible, engaged citizens” aligns with some of my most important beliefs about education.
Since moving to New Hampshire to start a family in 2019, I have worked mostly with rural populations in the Newport and Allenstown communities. These positions helped me to make connections across a broad socioeconomic spectrum of students, and learn about the diverse (and sometimes complicated) needs with which these students enter school.

I taught 3rd grade for two years and am in my fourth year teaching 2nd. I regularly teach a wide variety of subjects (Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Handwriting, and Phonics). I am adept at a range of curriculums/specialized programs and have worked to create curriculums based on the CCSS. I work daily with small intervention groups in Reading, Math, and Phonics wherein I adapt core curriculum to meet their needs. Master’s degree in elementary education.
