Hi, my name is Fern. I’ve taught Spanish and French at the High School and College levels for many years in a traditional classroom setting as well as remote.
My foreign language skills began as a child growing up in a French family. In college, I graduated with a Spanish and French double major. In Paris, at the Université de Paris Sorbonne I studied French conversation.
After years of teaching languages, I went into International Business where Spanish and French were used on a daily basis in my travels to various countries such as North and Central America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and others. After many years of international business I returned to my passion for teaching and speaking languages. I am also a certified Spanish interpreter and professional Spanish translator.
My teaching style is to immerse the student in speaking, listening, reading and writing the language as soon as possible. I create interactive lessons which involves vocabulary, conversation, expressions, pronunciation, grammar, conjugations as well as touching on history, geography and culture. Ultimately, my goal is helping you to be successful in learning and speaking the language. In fact, at least 6 former students of mine have become French/Spanish teachers.
My lessons are drawn from experience, world travel, textbooks, stories, news articles, current events, sports and other relevant topics to keep learning fun and interesting. I also create a customized curriculum based on the need of the student. From beginner to advanced lessons or to simply focus on areas of interest for students and professionals. We can cover any language needs you may have to reach your language goals.
