Big help!
Lisa, 1 lesson with LauraShe was knowledgeable, kind, and had a great sense of humor! When she left my daughter's words were, "that was the best hour I have ever spent!" Thanks Laura! And, by the way, she made an A on the exam!
My love of teaching comes from a passion for the applied sciences. I love seeing the look of understanding on my students' faces when a seemingly incomprehensible topic suddenly makes sense. I have experience tutoring in Chemistry and Algebra through a teaching assistant position at Texas Woman's University.
As I graduated with honors and a double major in Biochemistry and Chemistry, I understand the values of hard work and diligence and have had great success instilling comprehension...

Knowledgeable
A very productive session for my daughter who is struggling with chemistry and supplementing with tutoring. For someone who has had many years of experience, I think it’s helpful to remember that not everything is common knowledge, and that even simple things need to be broken down. Gentle correction would be helpful in our case, and asking questions like “Tell me your thought process” or “Let’s try that again” instead of saying no in a condescending tone would be more encouraging. With the extra practice worksheets given, it was a great supplement to what was reviewed.

Amazing tutor!
Laura taught me the building blocks of Chemistry. I was finally able to comprehend what my Professor was saying in class after an hour with Laura! I will definitely be meeting with Laura again as the semester continues

Knowledgeable and patient tutor
Laura helped me understand Sn1 and Sn2 reactions better. The website she suggested (mastering organic chemistry) was a BIG help!! I also didn’t feel like I was being talked down to as well and she was very patient with my questions as well. Would definitely book again!!!

Knowledgeable and customized her teaching
She learned I was a visual learner, so she found ways to show me the chemistry I couldn’t understand with graphs and pictures. I enjoyed learning from her because she was knowledgeable.

Impatient but helpful
I had a few lessons with Laura. She was helpful in the first lesson, but as we progressed she got more and more frustrated with me when I didn't understand a concept or was making small errors. She was condescending at times and I expressed that I had little guidance from my professor so I needed a lot of help, but I was made to feel stupid and belittled. She would explain concepts at the topical level, but would never fully explain as a whole. Also a few of our lessons were cancelled on her end due to unexpected things, and she was flexible with me when the same in turn happened. I have no personal qualms with her, but this was my experience as of recent.

Knowledgeable but got frustrated
Laura tutored my daughter yesterday. She is knowledgeable and helped her a lot, but she became frustrated with my daughter and kept repeating that she ( Laura) had a long day. We will not be using Laura V. again.

Laura is confidently knowledgeable and encouraging.
Laura reiterated the basics of nomenclature, and briefly touched on cis-trans isomerism. My session also included student participation with whiteboard interactions
