I specialize in AP Physics, AP Calculus, and college-level math and science, helping students master challenging material, improve grades, and perform at a high level on exams.
With over 15 years of classroom teaching experience and 5+ years of tutoring, I work with high school and college students to develop a deep understanding of physics and mathematics—not just how to get answers, but how to think through complex problems with confidence.
My approach is focused, analytical, and tailored to each student. I begin by quickly assessing your current level, then target the specific gaps or misconceptions that are holding you back. From there, we build clear problem-solving strategies and reinforce the underlying concepts so you can approach new problems independently.
I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring:
AP Physics (algebra-based and calculus-based)

AP Calculus (AB/BC)

College Calculus, Physics, and STEM courses

I also support students preparing for high-stakes exams, including AP exams and the SAT math section, with an emphasis on efficient problem-solving techniques and strategic use of tools like Desmos.
While I do work with a range of students at all levels of math, my primary focus is helping those in advanced high school and college courses succeed in demanding academic environments.
If you’re looking for clear explanations, structured problem-solving methods, and the confidence to tackle difficult material on your own, I’d be glad to work with you.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra to middle school and high school students at a variety of levels for many years.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is a bit of a mess and can include many distinct topics including conic sections, rational expressions, vectors, matrices, trigonometry, logarithms, probability, and complex numbers. I've taught Algebra 2 as a mathematical modeling course, and I've also taught it as a practical course with a focus on applications of topics. I can guide any student through these topics, as I have done so before.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus is critical because it lies at the heart of physics and engineering. Although the core ideas are simple, it quickly builds in its complexity, and the symbols can be intimidating too. I can offer you guidance through this math with the patience of a teacher, and the pragmatic mindset of an engineer.
Computer Science

Computer Science

Beyond the classes I took relating to computer science I got through my engineering education, I spent 10 years as a software developer. I've programmed in C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python and Perl. I've taught introductory level classes to programming using Javascirpt, and Python, and an intro to engineering using Arduinos.
Geometry

Geometry

For some, geometry comes as a great relief from algebra, because everything has a drawing. For many, geometry is a difficult challenge because it's the first math where you are expected to make proofs, which means to truly do math for the first time in your life. It requires a blend of logical and creative thinking. I love to help people make that leap - it's the best part about teaching geometry.
Physics

Physics

I love physics, and I love helping people to understand physics. I've taught math and science in the classroom for 15 years at various levels. Most recently I taught AP Physics last year. For many students, the real challenge of physics comes from reading a physics problem and abstracting it - turning it into equations, then solving the equations to produce an answer. It seems to always make sense when someone else explains it, but how do you even learn to work it out on your own? This skill of abstraction goes beyond memorizing a series of steps, and you may find yourself in a physics course with out much practice with this skill. I can help to guide you as you learn how to break down problems on your own.
SAT Math

SAT Math

Over my teaching career, I have helped many students prep for the SAT math section. Whether a student is trying to get a perfect score, or simply trying to achieve a minimum score, I tailor my lessons to meet my students where they want to go. I can help students with filling in gaps, as well as test taking strategy.

Great tutor!

He helped my daughter with math SAT prep. Along with walking her through the SAT questions she found problematic, he boosted her confidence with some kind words that were much appreciated. I think she needed the confidence boost even more than the math help. Thanks.
