I'm Eric! I graduated from New York University in 2019 with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science. In college I realized my favorite classes were the ones taught by engaging and compassionate professors, professors who explained topics clearly, brought new ideas and interpretations, and made students laugh every lecture. I strive to bring the same humor, compassion, and knowledge to each tutoring session. My tutoring methodology is to break down complex topics into their basic components then use analogies and real life examples to show how these components form the original topic. I ask students to explain these basic components to me to show a strong fundamental base. Just like a building can not have a weak foundation, understanding advanced topics requires a deep understanding of the basics.

I began tutoring in high school. For 4 years in high school, I ran an after school tutoring club where students could come receive tutoring in any subject they required. In college I TA'd a Data Structures class and an algorithms class where I held consistently packed weekly office hours. I was even voted the best TA for both classes. Subjects I've extensively tutored include: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Basic Algorithms, Data Structures. What I enjoy most about tutoring is instilling confidence into students and seeing that aha moment from them when they finally understand how to differentiate a function or implement Dijkstra's algorithm.

I'm easy to reach and respond very quickly. I want to help the students I work with as much as possible so I welcome any feedback or advice students and or their parents may have. So many people think CS or math is the hardest subject ever but they only think that way because it wasn't properly taught to them. My unique visual and Harkness like teaching methodology will really show students that CS and math aren't anything to be afraid of. Feel free to contact me with any potential questions or to schedule a lesson!

Angular

Angular

I'm a professional software developer with 2 years of experience using Angular to develop complex UIs involving numerous services, observables, directives, and components. Everything I develop requires at least 80% code coverage in Jasmine and tests that basic functionality is guaranteed and error cases are properly handled. I have 1 year experience teaching Angular as well, mainly to college students or adults, with a focus on how data is rendered on a page, model binding, creating shared components that can be rendered on multiple pages, and passing data to and from the frontend to backend.
ASP.NET

ASP.NET

I have 2 years of professional development experience using ASP.NET and the MVC pattern designing, building, and maintaining an easily scalable landing page solution. The solution turned text and images into a landing page published and publicly accessible in under an hour. I also have 3 years of experience tutoring college students/adults on ASP.NET, with a focus on the MVC pattern, how to pass models from controllers to a view and vise versa, viewbag/viewdata, and partials to encapsulate code for easy reuse.
C#

C#

I've used C# professionally for over 3 years developing web APIs, websites, backend processes, etc. I have professional experience in ASP .NET Cor and, using a MVC pattern to develop a landing page solution that creates landing pages in under an hour and manages over 200 landing pages. When I tutor C#, I always have sample code written in visual studio so I can show step by step show students how data is passed from backend to frontend through a model object, frontend to backend from databinding, etc.
Calculus

Calculus

I received a 5 on my AP BC calculus exam with a 5 for AB subscore as well. I also received a perfect 800 on my SAT Math level 2 subject test.
Computer Programming

Computer Programming

I'm a professional software developer with 3 years of experience. I use .NET and Angular on a daily basis but I have also tutored Java and C as well.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I graduated in 2019 from New York University with a Bachelors of Art in Mathematics and Computer Science and am now a professional full stack software developer. I have professional experience in C#, Angular, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core and am also proficient in Java. I have tutored numerous students in CS covering topics such as Object Oriented Programming (OOP), inheritance, polymorphism, garbage collection, memory allocation, method overriding vs method overloading, interfaces vs abstract classes, static vs instance, etc.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I've tutored trigonometry for 8 years to students from middle school age to college age (12 years old - 20 years old). When I teach trigonometry, I always draw a triangle or the unit circle to help students visualize a problem. For identities and formulas I come up with tricks to remember them like sine starts with s so sin(a+/-b) expanded has the same sign or the classic SOH CAH TOA
