I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and several years of experience teaching and tutoring students at different levels, from high school through college. My background is mainly in organic chemistry, polymers, and biomaterials, which also gives me a strong foundation in general chemistry and biochemistry. Because I’ve spent years working through difficult concepts myself and teaching them to others, I’m good at breaking chemistry down into clear, manageable pieces that actually make sense.
Throughout graduate school, I taught and supported undergraduate chemistry courses, including leading lab sections, discussion groups, and exam review sessions. I’ve also worked one-on-one with students who felt overwhelmed or stuck, helping them understand where things went wrong and how to approach problems more confidently. I focus less on memorization and more on understanding the “why” behind reactions, equations, and problem-solving steps.
I’ve worked with high school students, college STEM majors, pre-med students, mostly in one-on-one or small-group settings. My teaching style is patient, flexible, and encouraging, and I adjust how I explain things based on how each student learns best. My goal as a tutor is to help students feel more comfortable with chemistry, improve their performance, and leave sessions feeling more confident than when they started.
