What first brought me to teaching was my love of learning and of English (literature, writing, grammar, etc.). However, when I started to teach, I loved so much more than just the subject; it was the the connections I formed with my students as I helped them master a specific skill that I loved as well. What makes teaching so special to me is the progress I can see in each student and ultimately the confidence each student has once they succeed.
I have extensive experience in teaching reading and writing to all grade levels. I can assist with basic essay construction, and I can also assist with more advanced writing assignments (i.e. a college essay). Likewise, I can help students make their way through a piece of literature. In addition to those two categories, I can also teach students about the new SAT reading and writing portion.
