Hi! My name is Emily and I am currently completing my Master's in Applied Mathematics! I graduated with my Bachelor's in the subject last year. I started tutoring in 2020 and since then have taught both online and in-person to over 150 students ages 6-30. I am comfortable and experienced in working with students of all skill levels.
In my time tutoring online, I worked closely with parents to ensure that their students' needs were being met. Most of my lessons were weekly, which allowed frequent check-ins with students to ensure that they feel confident enough to complete work both in and out of our sessions. I also prioritised creating space for the student to feel comfortable working with me. Most lessons included brief icebreakers, a short lesson of related examples, and then assisted work time. For students whose goals were to get ahead, more detailed lessons were given.
Most of my tutoring experience has been in high school and introductory college classes, but I have also taught a handful of elementary and middle school students. My favorite class to teach has always been algebra, but geometry has really grown on me recently. I also took both the Calculus AB and BC exams in high school so I have personal experience with that.
In my free time, I enjoy crochet, video games, jigsaw puzzles, and indoor bouldering!
