I am currently an Actuarial Science student at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where I have built a strong background in math, statistics, probability, and finance. I have also passed professional actuarial exams in Probability (Exam P) and Financial Mathematics (Exam FM). Between my college coursework and preparing for these exams, I have spent a lot of time working through challenging math problems and learning how to break complicated concepts down into simpler, more understandable steps.
My approach to tutoring is patient, relaxed, and focused on actually understanding the material rather than just memorizing formulas. I know how frustrating it can be when a concept doesn’t immediately click, so I like to figure out exactly where a student is getting stuck and work from there. I typically explain the idea in straightforward terms, work through an example together, and then let the student try similar problems with my guidance. I also encourage students to talk through their thinking because it helps me understand what they already know and where I can help.
While I am newer to formal tutoring, I have plenty of experience working with classmates and peers on difficult quantitative material throughout college. I genuinely enjoy math and problem solving, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about getting something wrong. My goal is to help students improve their understanding and grades while also building the confidence to solve problems on their own.
