Bio

Hello! I’m a retired, experienced certified Math teacher that absolutely loved her job. I’ve taught all grades and specialize in anything from K through 8th grade Math. I have experience prepping for state tests, also, if needed.

Hello! I’m a retired, experienced certified Math teacher that absolutely loved her job. I’ve taught all grades and specialize in anything from K through 8th grade Math. I have experience prepping for state tests, also, if needed.

If your child needs overall confidence or test preparation, for tests such as MAP, STAAR or ISEE, I am confident that I can help. I have experience writing test questions for the state test, so I have knowledge of what will be expected of your child. My specialty is the ability to diagnose weak areas while working with your child. I use the state curriculums to find those areas of need, and then build my lessons to strengthen them and also your child's confidence in Math. I also am always searching for those areas when we work together on your child's homework.

I love Math and want to help you love it, also, and I’m willing to try different strategies to help you learn. There’s so many ways to work a Math problem - if one way doesn’t work, I’ll try different ways until you understand.

I’ve taught diverse classes and worked with a multitude of learning styles. I have a Bachelor’s degree and also a Master’s degree in Math.

Excellent Math Tutor

Emy has done a fantastic job helping my sixth-grader understand and master math concepts. Emy has been helping my child build up basic/fundamental math skills and get a little deeper understanding of the "why" part and not just the "how" part of math. Math is making more sense now! Emy also makes each tutoring session fun and engaging, with lots of conversation and games mixed in with the learning.
