My tutoring style adapts to each student I am working with, recognizing that each student has individual needs and situations. Not only will we work on specific subject matter, but building study habits to better facilitate future learning. I am also a sports coach and goal driven. We will set goals and work to achieve those goals systematically. I am a believer in catching my athletes and students doing things right. It is my philosophy that making this a priority helps build the desire to achieve more of the same.

Over the past 20 years, I have been a coach for a variety of sports and a scout leader while working in the private industry in sales and international business. I decided in late 2008 to return to school to get a teaching degree and graduated from Western Michigan University in December of 2011 with a BA in Secondary Education/Social Studies. While there, I was admitted for membership in the Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society and nominated for membership in Kappa Delta Pi Education Honors Society. Both of these honors were for academic excellence in these subject areas.

I have been a substitute teacher for several years and have also worked as a cognitive skills trainer with elementary through high school age students. I am currently employed through Lincoln Public Schools.

I graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in social studies with a history minor. I had extensive coursework in History as a part of both my major and minor. I am a member of Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society and the Organization of American Historians.
Anthropology

Anthropology

I have taught Anthropology in high school during the past five summers. It has been an offering for us as a part of our high school program at Boys Town. We look extensively at the different branches of Anthropology and delve into each with examples and hands on activities, culminating with our section of food anthropology, where we look at different breads from around the world and taste about a dozen different types.

As a part of the Anthropology course I have taught, we look at Archaeology as a branch of Anthropology and how it lends to the big picture of understanding the evolution and development of mankind throughout time. We have dovetailed that into the understanding of cultural anthropology to get a better understanding of how mankind has adapted with their beliefs and ways of life by looking at the evidence provided by artifacts and other items.

I played college football at Nebraska Wesleyan University and for 8 years I coached and played at the semi-pro level in Nebraska and Michigan. I have coached at the secondary level for the past 15 years and coached for a professional indoor football team for the past two years.

As a part of the social studies curriculum at Western Michigan University, I have had extensive preparation through coursework in physical geography, world, and regional geography. I have also taught geography in a middle school environment.

I held a 3.19 gpa and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society. I plan on graduate school through the University of Nebraska in history.

I was a letter winner in high school and threw for one year in college and have participated in Masters division USAT&F events while I lived in Michigan. I have coached shot put and discus at the high school level since 2008, with multiple State Meet qualifiers and placers. I focus on sound technique and repetition to achieve the best results.

I have taught junior high US History (origins to Reconstruction) and high school US History (Progressivism to Modern Day) going back to 2015. It is a passion of mine and my students have done very well in class. We have focused on Primary Source analysis extensively, following the Stanford History Education Group's format for analysis. It's a fantastic way of making the understanding of history more complete and thorough.
World History

Much of my history coursework at Western Michigan University was in the field of World History. I had extensive coursework in overall world history, specifically Latin American History, Middle Eastern History, European History, and Asian History.
