Understanding problem-solving is the key to understanding mathematics, and that belief is at the core of how I tutor. Rather than focusing on memorization or shortcuts, I emphasize the why behind each concept so students build a strong intuitive foundation. When students understand where ideas come from and how they connect, math becomes far less intimidating and much more logical.
My teaching style centers on exploration and curiosity. I encourage students to ask questions, test ideas, and actively engage with the material instead of passively absorbing it. Not only does this approach make concepts easier to learn and retain, but it also makes the process genuinely enjoyable. The biggest improvements I’ve seen in students’ confidence and grades come when they develop a new appreciation for the beauty of mathematics, because once that happens, motivation follows naturally.
I apply the same principles I teach. By focusing on deep understanding and effective learning strategies, I earned a perfect 36 composite score on the ACT and a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam in high school. In college, I earned a perfect score on my Multivariable Calculus final, finished with a final grade above 100% in Modern Algebra, and published research in the Journal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications. These experiences shape how I help students tackle challenging material with confidence and persistence.
I have experience tutoring students in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, multivariable calculus, and ACT/SAT test preparation. I've also worked at local math learning centers where I instructed groups of K-12 students. My goal is not just to help students succeed in their current course, but to give them tools and habits that will make them stronger, more independent learners for years to come.
I look forward to helping you navigate the beautiful world of mathematics!
