My name is Jake M. I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska Lincoln - Omaha Campus in May 2023. I was known as an inventor and a tinkerer in my scholarship program, and in my graduating class I was known for going above and beyond with my hardware design and software implementation. I was in charge of managing the underclassmen in IEEE, and later was elected president of IEEE and vice-president of HKN.
I've been the lab teacher for an Intro to C class for three years, and mentored about 10 students. I love taking the time to break down lesson problems into simpler steps and terms and try my best to relate it to what the student already knows. The age range of these students was from 18 to probably mid 30s. In the lab, I taught and assisted about 30-40 students, usually with one other lab teacher available. Outside of lab, during my office hours, I mentored usually one on one or sometimes two to three at a time.
Additionally, I mentored a group of six ECEN underclassmen and helped them study for exams, figure out homework problems, and assisted them on lab work. I also gave them advice on what classes might be interesting, what professors were worth it or not, and general career advice.
I've also taught as a code instructor at Code Ninjas, with students from ages 6 to 14. Over the summer I helped create curriculum for the summer camps involving ROBLOX programming and Minecraft 3D modeling.
