I completed my BS in veterinary science with a biomedical sciences option and with minors in English and Biochemistry. I decided against becoming a veterinarian and wanted to go research.
I completed an MS in Animal Science and then completed a PhD in Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience up at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. After that I did a Postdoctoral position at the United States Department of Agriculture doing vaccine research for Avian Influenza H5N1 (the bird flu) and then spent some time up at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota doing research as a Mayo Fellow.
I've been a postdoctoral fellow here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and I'd like to try to see what tutoring would be like. I've helped teach undergraduates in laboratories many times and would really like to help younger people understand math and science too. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
