NC Central University (Biology)
Wake forest University school of medicine (Master's)
Hello, parents and students (of all ages!). My name is Jennifer. I'm working towards finishing my master's degree.
While I have been teaching and tutoring since I was three years old when I first lined up my stuffed animals for "school," I have been a professional tutor for over 10 years. I focus a great deal on reading comprehension, particularly for math and science, to help all of my learners grow. My goals are always to build knowledge and confidence so students can learn to think independently. This way, students know how to ask questions and logically think or research their way to answers, even when they have little or no help.
I have successfully tutored students from grades 3 through graduate school.
I can tutor students in the following subjects (in no particular order):
-- Spanish 1 and 2
-- IBM SPSS
-- Reading Skills
-- Mathematical conversions problems
-- Setting up mathematical equations from word problems
-- Microsoft Excel
-- Scientific/Research-based writing
-- Microsoft PowerPoint
-- Voice/Singing and Vocal Performance
Feel free to contact me with any questions you have. I look forward to working with you!

Jennifer is great. She is very patient and she made sure I know the content of what we were reviewing before our sessions ended. I would love to have her as a teacher on a regular basis and will continue using her as long as I am taking statistics. She is awesome.
Jennifer really took her time and was very understanding to my learning challenges with statistics. She was able to break the material down so it was easy to understand. I passed a course which I have been hiding from since undergrad.
Thank you, Jennifer.
Jennifer was extremely helpful in teaching me statistics. She was available whenever I needed her, even studying up to four hours a day. She was knowledgeable about the material and very patient with me. I aced the final exam thanks to her! Wish I would have found her sooner.
Jennifer is a great tutor. I needed help with my homework assignments with SPSS and she is very thorough when going through them. While going through the homework, she makes sure I understand how and why we had to do something. She has really helped me through this class!
Had a refresher session with Jennifer and it was awesome! Again, even more so, I would highly recommend her. She never rushes you and always makes sure you are comfortable with the application.
I wouldn't look anywhere else!
Jennifer was a dream. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting Excel help. I would be more than happy to answer questions or refer her. If I need help in the future I will be glad to call her again.
Jennifer is an excellent tutor. I was concerned about getting someone who would talk over my head or rush through the material. I did not have to worry about that with Jennifer. She moved at my pace, was patient with my questions and made sure I understood each concept before moving forward to the next one. After two sessions, I actually moved from dreading statistics to getting excited about stats because I was beginning to understand them. Material that I could not previously understand now made sense to me because Jennifer used real world examples that I could relate to. I am looking forward to my next session.
Jennifer is a wonderful tutor. She is very knowledgeable, patient and provides excellent feedback. She makes one feel very comfortable and relaxed. She listens to you as you explain your concerns and struggles. I really like the way she encourages you to do your best. She lets you know that you can do this. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken a course specifically in biostatistics. Much of the material was/is the same as the statistics and epidemiology coursework I completed as part of my health sciences MS program. I have a BS in biology which has also helps me integrate my knowledge of stats and general sciences when I'm tutoring students/clients.
I have formally studied voice for the past 3 years but I have been singing since I was 4 years old. I began singing in school and church choirs and have grown to include solo performances. I typically sing in English, but have often sung songs in French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
