I am a certified special education teacher with a strong background in both early childhood and K–12 special education. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Inclusive Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and I also hold a master’s degree in K–12 Special Education. My teaching experience includes working with students across elementary, middle school, and high school settings, including students with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, developmental delays, executive functioning needs, and reading or math intervention needs. I have taught in public school, private school, early childhood, and remote learning settings, and I am experienced with IEP goals, accommodations, progress monitoring, and individualized instruction.
My tutoring approach is patient, encouraging, and highly individualized. I believe students learn best when instruction is broken into clear, manageable steps and when they feel safe enough to make mistakes while learning. I use explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, visuals, repetition, and confidence-building strategies to help students understand skills instead of just memorizing answers. In reading, I can support phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and written response skills. In math, I help students work through foundational skills, word problems, problem-solving strategies, and grade-level concepts using visuals and step-by-step support.
I especially enjoy working with students who may feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or behind in school. My goal is to help each student experience success while also building independence, confidence, and self-advocacy skills. Because of my special education background, I am comfortable adapting lessons to meet a student’s individual learning needs and explaining concepts in more than one way. I also value communication with families and try to make sessions supportive, practical, and focused on meaningful progress.
