Although I love the classroom, my favorite part of teaching is my one-on-one time with students. I am teaching college psychology at this point in my life, and my students have various kinds of papers to write for my courses. I enjoy helping them structure and strengthen their papers so that they can create a document worthy not only of a strong grade but also an increased sense of pride and competence for the student him/herself. Also, I am one of those rare people who loves grammar, which means I can help students write grammatically and structurally sound sentences and paragraphs. I look forward to working with you!
As noted above, I was a middle-school English teacher for six years after I completed college, and I am a self-professed grammar lover. I also enjoy editing, and I worked with two students during grad school to help them restructure their dissertations. Professionally, I have also served as a peer editor on various journal articles and book chapters. I have now taught at the college level for over twenty years, and each class has had papers to write. As I mentioned in the last question, tutoring students through their papers is one of the most satisfying parts of my job.
