Hi, I'm Suzanne. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies from the University of Houston. My main language within this major was Latin. I also have a minor in History. Hi, I'm Suzanne. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies from the University of Houston. My main language within this major was Latin. I also have a minor in History. I am certified in Secondary Latin 6-12 but am fully capable of teaching elementary as well. I taught Latin in a classroom for 20 years, with the last 18 being at Klein High School in the Houston area. When I was in school, I always excelled in the classes where the teacher made learning enjoyable. It didn't matter whether I enjoyed the content; if I had a teacher that was fun and engaging, I did well. That is how I like to teach. I like to make the material enjoyable yet challenging. I like an active classroom in which the students eagerly participate.
In my 20 years as a teacher, I have learned a lot of different strategies to help you learn. I create lesson plans that differentiate to meet different learning styles. The most important thing to me is the student. What are your goals? Once that is established, I can personalize the learning to give you exactly what you need to succeed. Learning a language takes practice and I provide plenty of practice so you can work on your skills.
My students enjoyed my class and I always provided tutoring both before and after school. If a student could not come directly after school due to a scheduling conflict, I would wait. Sometimes students would just come into my classroom after school because they needed a comfortable place to do their homework. When you feel comfortable in a class, you are not afraid to take risks. That is important when learning a language, as mistakes are common.
I am passionate about what I do, and I would like to help you succeed. I welcome feedback from both students and their parents. Because I am a retired teacher, I am available every day at almost any time. Please contact me if you would like to schedule a lesson or need additional information. I look forward to hearing from you.
