I completed my Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and weather forecasting at North Carolina State University with a minor in Spanish, then continued on to complete my Master of Science at Iowa State University in Atmospheric Science. Upon finishing my education, I began teaching in Raleigh, North Carolina where I taught and tutored middle school and high school math and science for the past five years. I have tutored college students for the past four years at UNC Asheville, UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, NC State University, Averitt University, East Carolina University, and even the University of Sydney, Australia remotely!
I have taught numerous classes in a formal classroom setting including Pre-Algebra, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2, Advanced Functions and Modeling, Personal Finance, Honors Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, Physical Science, and Honors College Physics. Additionally, I have tutored college students in Calculus, Statistics, Economics, Oceanography, and even Spanish 1!
I found a love for teaching when I needed my own tutoring. To be honest, I felt so embarrassed that I didn't fully understand the material and needed help when working on my math minor in college, and I never want any students to feel that way! Learning happens in all different ways and at different paces, and I want to come alongside you and empower you to have the confidence and critical thinking to do your very best! Forget about stupid questions... if you don't understand something, I'm here to help! My teaching strategy is simple - help the student realize what they don't understand and equip the student with the critical thinking ability and confidence to push through so they can achieve. The solution is important, but the journey is what matters most.
