I have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Physics, as well as a Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina. During graduate school, I taught Honors Chemistry I and Chemistry II labs for college freshmen and sophomores. In addition, I led small focus classes of approximately 20 students to supplement lecture material for Honors Chemistry I and II. In these sessions, I reinforced key concepts through supplemental instruction and was responsible for creating and grading quizzes. Following graduate school, I gained further analytical and problem-solving experience through three years of industry work as a research chemist in biotechnology.
I am passionate about learning and enjoy helping others understand—and even grow to appreciate—subjects that once felt challenging. My tutoring journey began in high school as a peer tutor for AP Chemistry and continued throughout college, where I primarily worked with students in general chemistry and introductory physics. I have tutored in a variety of settings, including one-on-one sessions, small group instruction, and classroom environments, working with students ranging from 7th grade through college.
I believe in not only helping students arrive at the correct answer but also ensuring they understand the underlying concepts. Subjects like chemistry and math can be intimidating, but I strive to make them approachable, engaging, and even enjoyable. I find it especially rewarding to see students grow in both confidence and performance, and I am committed to helping each student reach their full academic potential.
