Current College Student Excelling in Writing

Hello! I’m Matou and I am a current student at Howard University with a major in English with a concentration in writing. I graduated valedictorian at my high school with a 4.0 GPA which I have maintained in my college career. I can help with a variety of subjects, including math and history. However, I would argue that English topics, such as writing, vocab, and grammar, are more of my strengths as I have won the Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) American History Essay Contest for my local chapter.

Tutoring has been an essential part in my education journey. From a young age, I was being tutored in subjects that I was having a hard time grasping. Because of tutoring, I was able to improve and maintain my grades throughout school. Since tutoring was an integral part in my learning, I now want to help others with the knowledge that I have in certain subjects.

When it comes to teaching experience, I have been a part of a work study program at my former high school where I helped teach first graders reading, vocab, and math. Throughout the years, I have also helped some of my former classmates by teaching some material in math that was difficult for them to understand at first, in a way that made it clearer for them. My teaching method includes me providing the support you need to get on the right path, not doing your work for you. You will need to put an effort in trying to get the answer yourself and I will be there to tell you if you are on course and answering any questions you may have. When possible, I can also use/help create certain mnemonic devices to help you remember certain topics better.
