The English degree encourages creativity and unique thought. Writing an English paper is always a visceral and engaged process dealing with subjects in depth. It is about looking at the surface level of language, plot, and dialogue, and reading between the lines to come up with something fascinating. I carried on that type of interest and outlook into my philosophy major, which also adds on the importance of communicative language, rationality, logic, and clearness in thought and writing.
