I am a current PreMed student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After my first year of attendance I have made Dean's List with a 3.5 Cumulative GPA. I have achieved A's or A-'s in every STEM class taken at UNC. I graduated E.A. Laney High School summa cum laude and top 10 in my graduating class with a 3.75 overall GPA. I graduated Laney High School as a member of the National Honors Society and having completed the school's STEM program. I am currently enrolled in classes such as Bioethics, Anatomy and Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Introduction to Nutrition, and General Chemistry II. I intend to apply to the BSPH Nutrition Science and Research program at UNC as well applying to be a peer mentor for Biology 103 at UNC.
I have roughly 2 years of tutoring experience at varying ages. The first program I tutored under was Soaring As Eagles in Wilmington where I prepared less fortunate and struggling students for end of grade testing. Here I first developed friendly relationships with children while expanding their education simultaneously. This taught me how to teach others on how to approach different problems instead of becoming frustrated. The second program I tutored under was Voyage in Wilmington where I helped children in an underdeveloped area find engagement in their education during academic struggle. Additionally I provided a safe space for children to learn, develop, and bond away from possibly dangerous home situations. Finally, while not under any specific program, I did various tutoring for my teachers at Laney High School with students who were having difficulties under their courseworks. All of my tutoring experience has been volunteer based and mostly one on one based, however I have instructed multiple students at once on many occasions.
