Hi! I’m Jake, a passionate language tutor with over seven years of experience helping students connect across cultures and grow in confidence. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chinese and am fluent in Mandarin and Spanish. I’ve taught English as a Second Language to learners from around the globe, and now I specialize in Mandarin and Spanish instruction for students of all ages and skill levels. My background includes working with everyone from elementary-aged children to retirees, across academic, conversational, and professional goals.

My journey with languages began over a decade ago, when I received my Chinese name from a teacher who inspired me deeply. That moment sparked a lifelong love for language and cultural connection. Since then, I’ve pursued language not only as a skill but as a bridge—one that brings people together, deepens understanding, and opens doors. I bring this passion into every tutoring session, aiming to make learning feel meaningful and empowering.

What makes my lessons unique is my student-first approach. I tailor each session to your needs, blending grammar support, real-world conversation, pronunciation coaching, and cultural insights. I believe learning should feel exciting and accessible, no matter your age. Sometimes that means revisiting classic songs like "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" with adult learners to laugh, loosen up, and build memory connections. Media and music were crucial in my own journey—including how I taught myself Spanish.
