Hi! My name is Mrs. Kristi. I graduated from college with an undergraduate degree in Special Education (K-12), and a minor in Psychology. I also have my master's degree in behavioral disabilities. When I was a student, I struggled with paying attention, not understanding the material, and taking standardized tests. I worked extra hard and when I graduated from high school, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher and help students who struggle in school. I have tutored students in reading, math, spelling, and executive functioning. I worked with students in our lower income school system for ten years and tutored many of those students. I had a self-contained classroom during part of those years and taught all subjects up to ten students at a time and managed their behavior. For the last few years of that position, I worked at an alternative school and taught students that struggled in the regular school and helped other teachers create more efficient classrooms for struggling learners. After that I had children of my own and decided I wanted to homeschool them. Three of my children graduated from our homeschool and are doing well. My other child is getting ready to graduate from a private school. I was the director of our homeschool co-op, administered standardized testing to homeschool families, mentored parents, and tutored individual students. Two of my own children struggled with ADD, OCD, and general anxiety so I have many years of personal experience. I now work at a private school in their Learning Connections department in the high school. I have groups of five-eight students, and I tutor them in their executive functioning, and any of their classes that they need help in. My approach is to break down the material in simpler terms, teach them strategies to help them in class, and use a variety of different teaching techniques to meet them where they are currently. I enjoy watching students learn something and finally understand the material. I enjoy learning with them.

Approved Subjects

Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I have extensive experience supporting students with executive functioning challenges, especially those with ADHD, OCD, and anxiety. I previously taught homeschooled students, served as a homeschool tester, and helped design individualized learning plans that focused on organization, time management, and study skills. I currently work in a private school’s Learning Connections department, where I teach executive functioning strategies to help students become more confident and independent learners. My goal is to help students build the skills they need to stay organized, manage their workload, and succeed both in school and beyond.
Homeschool

Homeschool

I have extensive experience homeschooling students across multiple grade levels, where I design individualized lesson plans in reading, math, and language arts that meet both academic standards and each student’s unique learning needs. As a former homeschool tester, I assessed student progress in core subjects and helped families develop customized education plans to close gaps and ensure continued growth. I hold a degree in Special Education and a master’s degree in Behavioral Disabilities, which equips me to effectively support students with ADHD, anxiety, OCD, and other learning differences by breaking down complex concepts and building confidence across subjects. I also incorporate executive functioning strategies to strengthen organization, focus, time management, and independent learning, helping students succeed in a structured yet flexible homeschool environment.
