I have 6 years working for Western Suffolk BOCES at James E. Allen Elementary School. I was a paraprofessional for students on the autism spectrum and other students with special needs. I have over 10 years teaching swimming lessons for a variety of individuals. My experienced includes children diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, and Sensory Processing Disorders.

I have worked individually as a care giver and for respite services. I have always attempted to combine rewards and an aspect of recreation with with work to create a motivating learning environment. I enjoy helping students attain important skills and knowledge at a rate that challenges them however does not intimidate them. I communicate with parents well and take their concerns and goals for their children into strong consideration when developing tutoring sessions.

I am patient and relative. I am understanding of the perspective of my students and reassuring. Everyone learns in different ways. I believe every child is capable of learning a skill when motivated and has a reliable support system that has confidence in their capabilities.

I have been painting since high school with many mediums including water color, acrylics, and oil paints. I have taken studio in painting I & 2. I have worked as an assist for "Paint Nite", motivating individuals who are not always confident in their ability to be expressive and creative.
