I personally believe there is no one way to tutor as such I try and adjust my teaching according to how the student responds to the lesson. When it comes to tutoring math my number one strategy is to go step by step, from A to B to C. While doing this I explain why this is done, how do we ensure we are correct, and how to remain confident when applying this knowledge on a quiz or test. However, when I tutor subjects such as Business Law I desire to know what specifically the student is struggling with. Do they understand the plain text, nuance on the application, and real life examples generally taken from recent events. For example, I often use the example of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case in regards to defamation.
When working at the PASC I generally tutored one on one sessions however I am comfortable teaching multiple students at once and have lead study sessions for groups of 20+ on the lead up to exams.
I have most experience tutoring college aged students (17-22), however I have tutored my younger sibling and their friends and feel confident in my ability to tutor anybody after adapting to their preferred style.
