I have, well, a silly number of degrees. I love learning! With a BA, MS, and PhD exploring languages and ecosystems, I'll happily share my study approaches and help you find curiosity in tough subjects, and the fun in learning. I also have a couple of certifications, including natural science and TEFL. I have taught professionally and as a volunteer, including: ESL in elementary schools and with adult learners; K-12 science, math, and ELA; and undergraduate lab and lecture courses in science.

Tutoring is my favorite teaching space, as it allows for as many questions as the learner has! Tutoring also offers me a chance to ask the individual learner questions about their interests, goals, strengths, and areas they're looking for support, and inform the teaching with these responses. It's super rewarding to help people unlock the things they're looking to learn!

Anatomy

I've taught anatomy and physiology (A&P) in college lecture and lab courses, tutored anatomy students, and supported small study groups. Whatever your learning style, there's an approachable way to learn anatomy. Some fan favorites include diagram it out, watch animation sequences of functions and talk it through, make up memorable memorization mnemoics, play anatomy trivia games, and more! Who says a memory-intensive subject has to be boring? Anatomy is amazing! You were literally born with the answers - let's unlock the subject!

The building blocks of life - what could be more brilliant! But with its many terms, biology can seem daunting. With diagrams, videos, animations, and discussion, let's bring these terms to life and make learning biology approachable (and dare I say interesting?!). I'm a PhD and a scientist, I've worked in many different settings, including field and lab work, and taught science topics from kindergarden through college levels. Whether you've got the biology bug or you're looking to pass a test, I'll be glad to help you along toward your learning goal!

As a mildly number dyslexic person, math gave me the heebie-jeebies, until a talented teacher helped me understand strategies to approach numbers with success. From there, I was able to advance through science graduate degrees and professional data analysis. Now, I'm on a mission to make math accessible to young learners who need support. Math doesn't have to be scary! It's a beautiful language of numbers and patterns, for those who know how to look.

Knitting: the gentle art of tying knots in string with two sticks, and untying knots in yourself. I was taught to knit as a young child, and have had two sticks and a string with me throughout my life. From the basics of casting on, through introduction to knit and purl, and the essential ability to unravel mistakes (tink-ing is just knitting backwards!), let's walk stitch by stitch through your introduction to knitting.
