I am an educator and academic coach specializing in executive functioning, study skills, organization, and time management. I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. Early in my career, I worked at Duke University Medical Center on longitudinal research related to children with ADHD, which deepened my understanding of how learning differences impact attention, planning, and self-regulation.
I have spent over a decade supporting students in school and community-based settings, including work as a district behavioral consultant. In that role, I collaborated with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to design supports for students with executive functioning and social-emotional needs. I have taught and coached students in general education, special education, and small-group intervention settings.
My tutoring and coaching experience includes one-on-one and small-group instruction with elementary and middle school age students. I support learners with ADHD, learning differences, and students who are capable academically but struggle with organization, time management, follow-through, and independent work habits.
My approach is strengths-based and practical. Instruction is informed by executive functioning research with a focus on teaching students how to plan, prioritize, break down tasks, manage time, and advocate for themselves. Sessions are structured but flexible and may include creating organization systems, building study routines, developing realistic schedules, and practicing self-monitoring strategies.
I work closely with families to ensure skills generalize beyond tutoring sessions and support long-term independence. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to also build skills they can use across school and daily life.
