Dyslexia

I have a Masters in reading education from Appalachian State University and also focused on reading in my EdS and EDD coursework at the same university. I trained and worked as a reading tutor at the Appalachian State reading clinic. I have also worked with struggling/disabled readers at the high school level, teaching year-long reading courses I designed to help students get caught up with their reading skills. I was featured in the International Reading Association's Online magazine as their October, 2012 member of the month for being a promising reading educator/scholar.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Masters in reading k-12 and ESL certification k-12. I student taught 4th grade. I have experience tutoring lower and upper elementary students at Appalachain State's reading clinic. I also have two elementary school students myself, one entering 3rd grade and one entering 5th grade, so I am very familiar with the curriculum as well as with common struggles in grades K-6. I also tutored through Sylvan at a low performing school via a federal grant to help students catch up in reading, writing, math, and science and to do better on their EOGs. I worked with 5th and 6th graders.
