I currently am enrolled at UNCP and will be graduating with an undergraduate degree in History with a minor in geography on 5/10/14 and will be applying to their graduate program for social studies education for the fall semester (starts August 2014). I am well versed in most areas of history but have spent a majority of my time studying American, European and Middle Eastern History. I will be gaining additional experience tutoring and teaching during the months of May and June at a private Catholic school in Connecticut. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a history major, religion has been one of the driving forces behind decisions made by previous peoples and to understand why they made their choices I had to have an understanding of their faiths. Specifically my courses in history have dealt with Islam, Christianity and Judaism, but I have taken a world religions course which I supplemented through geography courses and an Old Testament class. Growing up I went to Catholic school for 9 years so I am proficient in matters regarding Christianity which will be supplemented through an internship teaching at a Catholic school for the remainder of the school year in Connecticut.
