If you need help with Mathematics, I'm here to help. I attended earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Mathematics at Winston-Salem State University. It was there that I gained a love of tutoring through helping my classmates. I began as a paid peer tutor in my second semester and, from there, I was hooked on teaching and tutoring math. I graduated from N.C. State University with a Master of Science in Pure Mathematics in 1998. Since then, I have been teaching and tutoring math students. Most of my career has been teaching Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus I - III to college students. I also have experience teaching high school students.
I enjoy teaching and explaining Mathematics - sometimes too much! Over the years as a teacher, I've learned to talk less and to devote more time to helping my students as they work through problems. I feel that students learn better when they are doing than when they are hearing or watching. I like to hear what students are thinking. I try to praise them for what they already know while reinforcing that knowledge and correcting them only when necessary. I strive to help students understand concepts deeply. If they do, later concepts in Math come more naturally.
I can help with Arithmetic (more important than most people think!), Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Math, Probability and Statistics. I provide homework help, Test Prep, and supplemental instruction. I look forward to helping you (or your student) succeed in Math.
