Hi everyone, my name is Kirsten! I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with undergraduate degrees in psychology and linguistics. I received my Master in Social Work degree from North Carolina State University in May 2021 and currently practice as a licensed clinical social worker. I have a passion for people and for learning, hence why I love tutoring. As a social worker, I work in the field of mental health, and have an understanding of how frustrating school and applying to college can be and how it can impact stress levels and wellness. I want to help with that!

Being a former college adviser, I was an SAT/ACT tutor in a group and individual setting for two years. In addition to helping students prepare for college as a college adviser, I also helped students prepare for other post-secondary avenues, such as the military. I worked with the local recruiters to help prep students for the ASVAB. With standardized testing, my philosophy is believing you can conquer the test is half the battle, and learning the tips and tricks to do your best is the rest of the battle. Most of the students I tutored for the ACT/SAT struggled with the math section, so I have a large amount of experience of talking students through math problems in ways that are easy to understand. I have also helped students with college application essays, and I would love to help you with yours! I know what colleges are looking for, and can help you develop your essay into an easy-to-read, clear, and compelling narrative. Everyone has a story to tell, and I love helping students show their best self through their writing.
