I have worked at a University as a Writing Center Tutor and Research Editor. I currently work as a Communications Consultant for health care companies. Proofreading Qualifications My approach for proofreading and editing for publish includes: 1. Revising for cohesion then 2. Proofreading for errors Steps for revising are: 1. Ensuring the thesis statement is clearly stated and informs the reader what the paper is going to be about 2. Double-checking the supporting facts and evidence in the body paragraphs (Check to make sure the facts support the thesis statement and that there are sufficient facts. Ensure quotations are used correctly and that all citations are correct.) 3. Eliminate unnecessary content and language (All of the content should be related to the main idea or thesis statement. Additionally, any confusing or unclear ideas or sentences are removed.) 4. Review for audience appropriateness (This includes making sure the paper is objectively written and is reader-centered.) During the proofreading for errors process the paper is checked for: 1. Spelling 2. Complete sentences 3. Punctuation 4. Subject/verb agreement 5. Construction 6. Parallelism and 7. Writing

Writing Tutor Experience Worked as a writing center tutor at East Carolina University assisting undergraduate students with their research papers to include 1) crafting a thesis statement 2) creating an outline and crafting a paper with an opening paragraph, supporting paragraphs, and 3) a conclusion for overall paper cohesion. I also help students to form my their paper according to MLA guidelines (in-text citations, works cited and general MLA guidelines). Additionally I currently work as an English, Writing Tutor with Varsity Tutors assisting students with: 1) research papers to include the above and helping them to conduct research 2) helping students to learn how to craft complete sentences, write paragraphs and essays and 3) working with students to master the grammar conventions according to the Common Core concepts of their year in school.
